Strong interest in economics that can execute projects selected in consultation with the Centre's senior research faculty. Projects could include, but are not limited to:
Organising national and international workshops or conferences at St. Gallen and elsewhere
Organising events where associates of the Global Centre engage with practitioners
Supervising the collection of datasets and assembling depositories of data online
Supervising the maintenance for the Global Centre's dedicated website (to be launched after the appointment is made)
Securing content for posting on that website from associates of the Global Centre
Formulating plans for future activities of the Global Centre and their funding
Speaks and writes both English and German fluently
The appointee may have to travel from St. Gallen
And work occasionally over the weekend
The Global Centre for International Economic Analysis was created by the University of St. Gallen to advance research, thought leadership, and engagement in the areas of Economic Development, Macroeconomics, and International Trade. This Centre is located in the Swiss Institute of International Economics and Applied Economic Research at the University.
The Associate Director will lead a small team and is responsible to the four senior faculty that are directly appointed to the Global Centre. Candidates should be able to speak and write both English and German. The appointee may have to travel from St. Gallen and work occasionally over the weekend.
Candidates with Ph.D.'s in economics or comparable exposure to senior academic economists are encouraged to apply. Candidates pursuing a Post-Doc should be aware that this post involves a substantial element of service delivery
