Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will use your skills and technical expertise to validate and customize OEM 1ph and 3ph low-voltage Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to satisfy the mission-critical power protection product market specification.Reporting to the R&D Hardware Chapter Lead, based in Quartino (Switzerland), you will contribute significantly to initiatives related to ABB's Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) products.The work model for the role is hybrid. #LI-HybridYou will be mainly accountable for:•Leading technical validation and customization of OEM 1ph and 3ph low voltage Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), as well as batteries and accessories.•Managing test partners (UL, Intertek, Dekra, Eurofins, etc.) to scope and plan test programs to demonstrate compliance with IEC or UL applicable standards.•Managing technical specifications of the assigned product and supporting the Product Manager in developing the business case for offering developments.•Driving Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions related to issues found during qualification testing, and at customer site.•Maintaining awareness of state-of-the-art technology, collaborating with the research center in Switzerland and other ABB stakeholders to identify potential new UPS technologies.

Qualifications for the role
 

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • More than five years of work experience in electrical engineering and solid experience with power electronics systems.
  • Experience with various measuring equipment used in a laboratory environment as well as working with external laboratories and certification bodies.
  • Knowledge of product regulations and standards (including IEC and UL).
  • Knowledge of ECN's (Engineering Change Notifications), BOM's (Bill of Materials), and documentation systems.
  • Experience with failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.
