Head of Strategic Intelligence

We are looking to hire a summer intern, with specific dates to be determined by mutual agreement.

Your responsibilities

• Gain comprehensive exposure to the full strategic cycle — from diagnosis, market and competitor analysis, and strategic modelling and planning, to portfolio management, M&A activities, and performance management.

• Contribute to our company-wide intelligence newsletter covering critical geoeconomics and industry trends relevant to ABB.

• Support the preparation of regular strategy and market insight updates for the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

• Assist in ongoing competitor benchmarking activities.

• Help advance and continuously improve our insight tools and methodologies.

• Participate in ad‑hoc corporate strategy projects across the organization.

• Collaborate closely with ABB’s businesses and functional teams throughout the insights generation process.

Your background

• Current Master's student in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related fields

• Initial work experience in areas such as strategy consulting, corporate strategy, M&A, or investment banking

• Proficient analytical skills, including structuring, problem-solving, and modeling

• Commitment to addressing intricate challenges, accompanied by notable curiosity and a willingness to expand knowledge

• Professional fluency in English; additional languages are a plus

• Proficient in both written and spoken forms of communication

• Team spirit and a global mindset

• Careful attention, correctness, and a readiness to rethink traditional practices

• Eligibility for a Swiss work permit (e.g., Swiss or EU/EFTA citizen — no visa sponsorship)

Corporate Strategy and M&A is responsible for ABB’s corporate strategy, strategic planning and portfolio management processes, as well as the execution of acquisitions and divestments.
